Our February Install of the Month winner is Jonathan K.
What solar system type did you install? Grid-Tied Our February Install of the Month winner is Jonathan K.! Jonathan wasn’t planning on going solar when he set out to replace his roof. But after receiving bids of $15k for a new shingle roof, he started to wonder how much he could save by doing the work himself. After a bit of research, he soon realized that the route would allow him to replace his roof and install solar for around the same cost as a professional roof replacement. If you’re breaking out the tools and climbing on the roof, why not kill two birds with one stone, right? Jonathan got in touch with GooSun Solar and the rest is history. Though the project wasn’t without its challenges (“I now know why roofers ask for so much money!”), the reward of sustainable power for decades to come made everything worth it. Congrats Jonathan on your new roof and solar system! Good morning, I'm sure I buy a product on the internet in Italy to study and it weighs like this How many helpers did you have? My wife helped me lug some panels around, but most of the work could be done by one person. I also had an electrician and arborists assist me with certain parts of the job. I also replaced my shingle roof during this time and hire a cleanup crew to help me pick up shingles. How did it feel to get your solar project finished? Meh. I’ll feel better when I get that first electric bill

The collective effort yielded great results - Matt M. Installation of the Month "Do it yourself" doesn't mean you have to do it alone: this month's installation proves that having a lot of friends and a little forethought can go a long way. Matt M. knew what he wanted - offsetting the electricity bill, and he knew exactly what needed to be installed to get the job done. Six friends, and about 20 hours later, Matt had a fully functional, grid-connected system that looked fantastic. "The moment I spoke with Matt on the phone, I could see that he was not only knowledgeable, but also had the confidence of a do-it-yourself installer. He suggested to me the use cases he wanted to offset, and we were able to easily design a system to meet his needs. He knew he planned to build a structure to mount the panels that gave us good flexibility in panel layout and allowed for ideal panel orientation. Matt's architectural knowledge and familiarity with solar energy made him an ideal client for the project." - Solar Technology Jack. Matt Interview How long does the complete installation process take from receiving the device to turning on the switch? It took me 10 hours to install the rack and panels with the help of 6 friends, and then another 10 hours to pull the main power and connect everything together with the help of 3 friends. How many people did it take? 7 people install racks and panels, 3-4 people install inverters. Have you had any construction experience before? I am a union sheet metal worker with 20 years of experience and my neighbor is a union electrician with over 20 years of experience. What was the most confusing or difficult part of the installation process? The most difficult part was installing shelves and panels on the 6/12-pitch metal roof. Do you need any unforeseen extra parts or tools? Working with JACK was great, he was very helpful and answered every question I had. Thank you, Jack! The only thing I was missing were the rack's two ground lugs, which wasn't a big deal: I made two bolts with pushbutton heads out of 1/4-20 stainless steel bolts that slide perfectly into the top of the rack. How/Why did you choose to install it yourself? I installed it myself because I had good friends who took the time to help me and I couldn't have done it without their help.

    Singapore 2MW Solar Road Project
2MW solar power plant  Solar Farm  Singapore  March 2019 What Was Your Primary Reason for Adding Solar to Your Home or Business? My main goal was to provide green energy in a commercial business and to offset grid power consumption. The solar array I installed collects enough energy to power, and should help Mt. Shasta Animal Hospital save money month-to-month on their utilities. Was there anything difficult about the installation? Pulling the wire through the conduit was a bit more difficult than I expected it to be, but I managed. There was some heavy lifting involved, so I had a couple of guys assist me with carrying the panels onto the roof. I definitely appreciated having extra help. How does it feel to complete a solar project? Big! Indeed, everything went very smoothly and was better than expected. One of the goals of the project is the difficulty of supplying electricity through solar power and the huge expenditure of electricity, while protecting our natural environment, which will greatly affect the future of our country. Now, we drive through this highway. This is simply a sense of accomplishment! Who else did you consider before choosing GooSun? In preparing the project, we read some literature and checked several online retailers. Steven provided different product pre-configurations and detailed introductions, and had an in-depth understanding of our project. This fact triggered a conference call to discuss the products and systems we need in more detail. After the first call with Steven, there is no doubt that we hope to cooperate with Steven. We are always looking for competitive prices, technical expertise and help.

The project is from Mich Project Name 3MW solar plant in Vietnam Project Type Grid tie ground-mounted solar power station Installation Site Vietnam Installation Date Feb, 2020 System Component Mono380watt solar panels, 70kw grid tie inverter The project is from a Vietnamese company. As the person in charge of the project, Jin and I gave a detailed introduction. Although high temperatures delayed installation, their entire project was completed in less than a week. Having said that, they have established a system that can offset the high industrial electricity bills every year and can sell their electricity to the government. We contacted Jin and asked some questions about the progress of the project. He kindly explained the whole installation process to me: What is the most difficult part of the installation? The installation itself is not difficult. It prepares through communication and assistance with Ben. The huge project completed the installation and testing smoothly. How does it feel to complete a solar project? Big! Indeed everything went very smoothly and was better than expected. One goal of the project is to save our industrial electricity through solar power generation, and at the same time, by selling electricity to increase additional income and protect our natural environment, this can greatly affect the future of our country. Now, we appreciate our engineering site. This is simply a sense of accomplishment! Who else did you consider before choosing GooSun? The project is from Michael, Texas, USA. As a carpenter and engineer, it is correct to carry out solar construction in his cab. Although high temperatures delayed installation, they still completed the project in less than 10 days. Having said that, they built a system that can offset more than $1,500 in electricity bills each year. We contacted Michael and asked some questions about the progress of the project. He kindly explained the whole installation process to me: What kind of solar system did you install? Grid connection Do you have experience before? I am a carpenter, engineer and experienced DIY'er. Installing a solar system seems to be much more fun than replacing knobs and tubes! What is the most difficult part of the installation? The installation itself is not difficult. It prepares through communication and assistance with Christine Zhang. However, heat becomes a difficult factor limiting the working hours of the roof to morning. I think when the roof temperature is too high, we can save time by installing an inverter inside and wiring switches and panels. The most difficult process overall is the pre-installation license. There is no clear instruction about the process of the homeowner as the general contractor. For us, this is a "learning by walking" experience, and through some more explicit instructions, you can save a lot of time and resources. How many helpers do you have? My father is an electrical engineer and joined me from Germany as a good helper. My wife Alison made many calls during the permit period. During the installation process, our three daughters provided a lot of ethical support and served Gatorade. Have you hired a contractor? No, the only transaction we need to sign a contract is a structural engineering analysis of the roof structure, which is necessary to obtain a permit. Do you need any other unpredictable parts or tools? During the preparation process, we decided to purchase approximately 2 x 4 OSB boards and scaffolding boards to make the installation easier and safer. This is because our apex angle is 45 degrees. How long does the entire installation process take? It took 7 days to install the system. It took 1.5 days to build and remove the scaffolding. How does it feel to complete a solar project? Big! Indeed everything went very smoothly and was better than expected. One goal of this project is to show our children that the sun can generate our own energy, which can greatly affect the future of our planet. Now, our 5-year-old Josie pointed out the potential high-quality solar roof when driving through the town, which is simply a sense of accomplishment! Who else did you consider before choosing GooSun? In preparing the project, we read some literature and checked several online retailers. The fact that Christine provided different pre-configured software packages triggered a conference call to discuss the system we needed in more detail. After the first call with Christine, there is no doubt that we ho...
